JANUARY 8, 2021 - Musicfest 2020 Tribute Album “The Years” Digital Release
“Let me tell you something cucumber…” - Bang My Head, Cross Canadian Ragweed
The Chief was included in the The 2020 Musicfest Tribute album live recording in Steamboat Springs, CO last year, paying homage to Cody Canada and the music of Cross Canadian Ragweed. Dickson Productions' Musicfest hosts a tribute each year to celebrate the works of influential artists in the Texas Country and Red Dirt music scene. The list of artists previously honored includes names such as Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Billy Joe Shaver, Rodney Crowell, Bruce Robison, and Robert Earl Keen. “The Years” features covers of Canada’s songs by other acts like Randy Rogers, Reckless Kelly, Read Southall Band, William Clark Green, Stoney Larue and more. The recording took place Jan 7-8 on the Big Tent stage in front of a packed live audience. Copper Chief’s performance is one of two on the album with Canada making a guest appearance and ending the song with an exclamation of the band’s catchphrase, “Hail to the Chief!” The band posted to their social media accounts on the album’s digital release date, January 8, 2020, saying:
“We were honored to be a part of The MusicFest Tribute this year celebrating the songs of one of our heroes that we're lucky enough to also call a friend, the one and only Cody Canada. You can find us playing "Bang My Head" through the haze and the hangover on this awesome collection of tunes. Our performance was recorded live in the Steamboat Big Tent last year with a special appearance by the man himself! Cody and Cross Canadian Ragweed played a big part in all of our lives both in choosing this crazy life and as the backing tracks to some of our favorite memories and we're damn proud to be a part of this! They couldn't have chosen a better guy, catalogue, or group of people playing the songs! April 2020 - Virtual Streaming Shows and COVID-19
In lieu of shutdowns due to the deadly COVID-19 virus, live tour dates have been cancelled or rescheduled up until further notice. As an answer to this situation we have worked to schedule several full band live streaming shows with our partners at different radio outlets along with plans to do some pop-up appearances from our own social media pages. These are trying times for everyone, especially those in the service and gig industries, but we are staying strong, staying safe, and urging you to do the same. We salute all of our health care professionals, first responders, and volunteers for their tireless efforts and their families for supporting them.
For any of those interested in contributing to our livelihood during this current period, we have listed avenues to do so below and are forever grateful to you and those who have already shown us so much love. Stay well, stay safe, and keep rocking friends.

January 5, 2020 - Music Fest Official Artist Debut in Steamboat Springs, CO
Copper Chief was invited to join the lineup for Dickson Productions anual “The Music Fest” in Steamboat Springs, CO. They kicked off their inaugural Music Fest with a sold-out ticketed fest show at the downtown Chief Theater alongside Midnight River Choir. Day two included an early morning interview with Justin Frazell of Fort Worth’s 95.9 The Ranch for his Red Dirt Roads program followed by a late night set on the “On Air” Media Lounge stage. The final show of the week was a rowdy full house experience at Timber & Torch that was met with undeniable enthusiasm from the capacity crowd who had caught wind of their shows throughout the week.
November 27, 2019 - 3Ten ACL Live
Thanksgiving Eve was spent playing the Chief’s first gig in the ACL Live family of venues with local openers Darkbird. The show was part of this year’s Charles Smith Wines Rhythm & Vines Series at the state of the art venue. August 19, 2019 - New Single & Video Exclusive Premiere: “Broken Promised Land”
The video for brand new single “Broken Promised Land” premiered EXCLUSIVELY on the Billy Bob’s Texas website leading up to Copper Chief’s mainstage debut on FRI 8/23.
The boys teamed up with Shake Music TV and the legendary SUN STUDIO in Memphis, TN during the first leg of the summer tour. One night in the storied live room of the studio produced the audio recording and live video footage for the song along with an unforgettable experience.

MARCH 25, 2019 Copper Chief Wins “New Band of the Year” at the 2019 Texas Regional Radio Music Awards
The 2019 Texas Regional Radio Music Awards announced Austin-based band Copper Chief as winners of "New Band of the Year" at the Arlington Music Hall in Arlington, Texas after featuring them as a special guest performance to close their Future Faces Showcase the previous night. In addition to the win Copper Chief performed their heavy-hitting rendition of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," on FOX 4 Good Day Dallas, Monday morning. The band presented the awards for “Radio Market Personality” and also performed their driving, grit-and-gospel rocker “Muddy Water” to close the awards ceremony.
"Last night was amazing," stated Mike Valliere (vocals/guitar), "This is the first award we have ever won. We are ecstatic with how the Texas music community has embraced us and humbled to have been nominated with so many talented artists that we have grown up with. To be able to close out the show at the end of the night was the icing on the cake."
Recently featured as a fan favorite on USA Network's country music showcase series, "Real Country," Copper Chief also made their SXSW debut this year and will be continuing the momentum as they head out on tour with country legends, Travis Tritt and Marshall Tucker Band. We had an absolute blast throughout the whole Real Country process and are so thankful for the opportunity to share a part of ourselves with so many of y'all. We are humbled to have won the first episode of USA Network’s Real Country! It was an honor to share the stage with Adairs Run and The Young Fables for our episode along with all the other acts to come throughout the season. We were chosen to advance from the first round by live studio audience vote and then selected as the winners of our episode by a joint live studio audience vote and weighted vote from prominent country act Big & Rich. This win secures us a spot on the season finale (12/11/18), a cash prize, and a slot to play acclaimed country music event Stagecoach Festival in April, 2019! It was our honor to be a part of the song swap at T-Bird's Garage Pub out on Melody Mountain Ranch! We got to share the stage with some new friends, James Cook and Phil Hamilton during our round. Including raffles, ticket sales, and silent auction on donated merch and other packages, the night raised over $3000 for the Stephenville Area Foster Home!

We are so excited to announce the release of our debut album, "COPPER CHIEF". We will be opening the Saturday night show on June 24th and can't wait for what is sure to be an aweomse day and night of festivities and great music. If we succeed in winning the finals, we will perform an acoustic set on the Allsup's stage during LJT's Texas Music Festival 2017 AND will receive a free trip on our 2018 Coastin’ & Cruisin’ Songwriter’s Cruise as a member of the line up!
